Marta Ptaszyńska

(*1943)

Composer, percussionist, teacher. Her output encompasses compositions for a variety of scoring: symphonic, chamber and solo, but she is particularly fond of percussion music. Melody plays an essential part in her works, even if it runs parallel to the modern expressive devices. The composer is especially preoccupied with sound colours, which is directly linked to her natural gift of synaesthesia and perception of harmonic consonances in colours. Her compositions are based on the principles of symmetry and interdependences in numbers and geometry. (EC)
