Aleksander Nowak
(*1979)
Composer, guitarist, pedagogue. Perhaps the most piercing observer among Polish composers, Nowak has been inspired by his own experience and mundane situations in his life. He uses citations as carriers of everyday life which he processes into the foundation of a number of his works. To this end, Nowak also turns to the idiom of popular music and its rhythmicity and repetitiveness. Although he does not refrain from banality, the illustrative quality of his compositions may seem naive, Nowak’s oeuvre remains original, unpretentious, and most of all honest. (KS)
