Arturas Bumšteinas

(*1982)

Lithuanian composer, performer and improviser; works under the stage name Refusenik. Bumšteinas specializes in experimental electroacoustic and electronic music. He has founded several music groups and participated in various interdisciplinary projects with other artists. Also active as a sculptor, he has delivered a number of sculptures and installations. Bumšteinas draws from minimalism, which he enriches with ambient music and repetitive elements while also seeking more avant-garde consonances. He sometimes processes classical compositions and pop music to come up with unique, often surprisingly humorous remixes. (EC)
