Eugeniusz Knapik

Composer, pianist, teacher. He is a representative of the so-called ‘pokolenie stalowowolskie’ (‘Stalowa Wola generation’), which opposed the avant-garde concepts of the ’50s and ’60s and openly turned to tradition in music. The composer draws his inspiration from the music written at the turn of the twentieth century. His output, pointing to the aesthetic conception of New Simplicity, covers a wide variety of forms and genres in vocal and instrumental music: from miniatures to operas, as well as earlier forms, e.g. concerto grosso. One of the essential parts in Knapik’s music is the melody. (EC)
