Grzegorz Pieniek

(*1982)

Composer. His works touch upon such metaphysical themes as the relation between humans and art, and the depth of human emotions. Such is also his music – deeply moving despite sparing means of expression, or perhaps thanks to such self-restraint? Pieniek is economical at dosing the musical matter, at times resting with merely several instruments, several articulatory effects, several persistently recurring motifs and a void in between. This void and the tension between the respective elements emotions give rise to emotions which remain with the listener for a long time. (KS)
