Hanna Kulenty

(*1961)

Composer. Kulenty’s music is non-schematic and non-obvious, characterized by thrilling narration, shifts in tension, and a specific soundscape achieved thanks to unorthodox performing lineups. All of these qualities result from a carefully developed distance to the past and its conventions. Kulenty describes her technique as the polyphony of arches – her compositions are intended to hypnotize and get the audience into a trance. (AM)
