Katarzyna Brochocka
(*1982)
Composer, pianist, author of librettos. Brochowska has written pieces for various arrangements, including solo, chamber, and orchestral compositions, as well as electroacoustic works, but her main focus rests with vocal and instrumental music. In composing song cycles and operas, which sometimes accompany her own librettos, Brochowska makes frequent references to Polish literature (Zapolska, Witkiewicz) and English literary tradition (Joyce’s and Dickinson’s poetry). She employs classical forms and her language, full of atonal solutions, interlaces dark seriousness with elements of the grotesque. (EC)
