Lidia Zielińska

(*1953)

Composer and pedagogue. Zielińska specialises in electroacoustic music and acoustic ecology, but she has also been successful in writing instrumental music and combining the two worlds. Zielińska frequently operates with limited measures, utilizing sound scales, central chords, and repetitive tonal motifs. Using the variation technique, she processes these simple elements into various patterns and arrives at the effect of unity within a larger diversity. Zielińska’s compositions also operate with void and meditative ambience, no doubt as a result of her interest in the cultures of the Far East. (KS)
