Maciej Małecki

(*1940)

Composer, pianist and pedagogue. His music is firmly established in 20th century music traditions. Well-pronounced rhythms, evocative of folkloristic tones, may spark off associations with neoclassicism, while intense expression and attachment to melodics confer Małecki’s music with an aura of Romanticism. Małecki also infuses his compositions with the elements of tonality with strong chromaticism, twelve-tone technique, and cluster harmonics. (KS)
