Maciej Negrey
Composer and musicologist, author of numerous publications and co-editor of the Polish Music Publishing House’s Encyklopedia Muzyki [Encyclopedia of Music]. His research focuses on symphonic music, including 19th and 20th century Polish works. Negrey represents the generation of composers who debuted at the 1970s Stalowa Wola festivals. Highlighting his oeuvre are chamber works with a significant exposure of cello music. Negrey’s musical idiom refers to the current of New Romanticism and emphasizes the richness of instrumental timbres, pronounced emotionality and lyrical phrases combined with formal clarity. (EC)
