Marcin Markowicz

Composer and violinist. Active as a soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster of the Wrocław Philharmonic, Markowicz is also a juror of violin competitions, acts as the Artistic Director of the International Chamber Music Festival “Ensemble”, and holds master classes for performers. His composing oeuvre is dominated by chamber works for strings: quartets, quintets, and a violin sonata inspired by the neoclassicist aesthetics. Apart from an exceptional sense of the counterpoint form and technique, Markowicz’s compositions are frequently characterized by the presence of motor rhythm. (EC)
