Marcin Masecki

(*1982)

Classical and jazz pianist, composer and arranger. His compositions frequently refer to the pre-existing materials or idioms which he processes in original, idiosyncratic ways. Masecki shuns regularity and perfection: his pieces include numerous crooked tones and apparent clumsiness. He consciously inserts his compositions with trivial elements, frequently presented in the form of obsessive loops. On the other hand, Masecki filters his attachment to classical forms along with his fascination with 18th century music  e.g. through the application of the counterpoint technique. (KS)
