Sławomir Czarnecki

(*1949)

Composer and pedagogue who situates his music in the postmodern aesthetics, making clear references to classical and baroque forms and the neoclassical harmonic language. Czarnecki stresses the importance of formal and textural legibility of his works, whose chief purpose is to satisfy the audience. His compositions also employ elements of folklore, particularly that of the Podhale region. Czarnecki’s diverse oeuvre spans a range of compositions, from solo to symphonic works, incidental music to films and radio dramas, as well as sacral and educational works. (EC)
