Sławomir Zamuszko

(*1973)

Composer, violist and pedagogue. In his works Zamuszko often quotes existing melodies and subjects them to traditionally defined thematic processing. Also intriguing in Zamuszko’s oeuvre is the harmony which operates with tonal centres and refers to the extended major-minor system, sometimes based on consonances constructed from selected intervals. Zamuszko also applies classical formal models such as the sonata or rondo. Zamuszko’s attachment to melody and motoric rhythmic situate his music in the vicinity of neoclassicism. (KS)
