Sławomir Zubrzycki

(*1963)

Pianist, composer and instrument maker. Famous for his construction of viola organista, Leonardo da Vinci’s instrument which Zubrzycki has built and written for, he composes pieces based on existing themes which he rearranges in his own right, attempting to evoke a given style instead of citing it in a straightforward way. In doing so, Zubrzycki frequently refers to the early repertoire, which he injects with components of contemporary musical language interwoven in his works in the form of rhetorical figures. (KS)
