Tadeusz Wielecki
(*1954)
Composer and contrabassist. His works are a development of the concept of musical gesture: a characteristic shift which both constitutes a conglomerate of musical parameters and acts as a carrier of expression and meaning. The interplay of meanings and differences in the expressive qualities of individual gestures in Wielecki’s pieces give rise to their dramatic tension. Also characteristic of the composer is the evolutionary mode of his narratives, in which the composer clasps together processed thematic variations with new sound materials. Wielecki’s music is also vitally informed by its tonal qualities which comprise both postspectral consonances and widely applied sonorous effects. (KS)
