Weronika Ratusińska-Zamuszko
(*1977)
Composer and pedagogue. Her music is poetic and sensual, filled with bright tones and delicate timbres. Suggestive of minimal music, Zamuszko’s compositions nonetheless possess mantra-like qualities which she attains through the application of repetitions. Her harmonic language is founded on euphonic consonances, third chords, parallelisms, and neomodality. Zamuszko tends to imbue her works with citations which sometimes act as the main structural fabric of the composition, regardless of whether they are Polish folk songs, Hindi ragas or Spanish folies.
