Włodzimierz Kotoński
(*1925, +2014)
Composer, precursor of electroacoustic music in Poland, one of the first collaborators of the Polish Radio Experimental Studio. Kotoński constructed his composing language by reinterpreting the global trends in new music: serialism, sonorism, and concrete music. He has also come up with intriguing sound qualities by employing percussion instruments, which he knows inside out. Kotoński’s compositions resemble a solitaire of sound objects: punctualistic, singular acoustic effects interlaced with complex developments and alterations. (AM)
