Wojciech Widłak

(*1971)

Composer, organist and music critic. His oeuvre features frequent interval and pitch shifts, with respective instrumental parts incessantly oscillating around their tonal centres. Thanks to such conscious reduction of musical material, Widłak’s music achieves nearly classical transparency in terms of texture and form. Despite their characteristic plainness, Widłak’s works do possess poetic qualities and expressive depth, as suggested by the extra-musical references embedded in their respective titles. (KS)
