Zbigniew Bargielski
(*1937)
Composer. Invariably independent of the dominant trends and currents in contemporary composition, Bargielski’s style is highly individualized and based on a masterly command of modern resources. The music language of his pieces is founded on two original techniques: a central system which organizes the pitches of sounds, and a form based on segments and variables. At the same time, Bargielski stresses the emotional aspect of his music, its extraordinary lyricism and sensitivity to timbres. When composing, he draws inspiration from literature and painting, frequently bestowing his works with poetic titles. (EC)
