Zofia Dowgiałło

Composer, harpist, improviser; holds M.A. in philosophy from the University of Warsaw. Dowgiałło specializes in performing contemporary and early music. She writes a cappella pieces and symphonic works, employing the harp as the solo or accompanying instrument. Dowgiałło skillfully utilizes the richness of tones which typifies the harp by turning to extended techniques, amplification, and combinations with electronic sound. The titles of her works frequently draw from painting techniques, underscoring Dowgiałło’s exceptional sensitivity to timbres. (EC)
