Joanna Szymala

(*1989)

Composer. Other than classical, she also takes on jazz compositions and arrangements, as well as vocal music. Her works are dominated by instrumental music, frequently scored for large orchestral forces. Her musical language harks back to tradition, but she also makes use of modern expressive devices. Rather than making programmatic references, the artist focuses on purely musical resources, such as the sound colour, texture and form, paying special attention to the works’ dramatic effects. (EC)
