Guillermo Lauzurica

(*1968)

Spanish composer and pianist. His artistic interests, in addition to classical composition, are centred around jazz and improvisation, experimental music, performance art, sound installations and painting. The crucial part of his creative endeavours is devoted to electronic music. The artist is a member of a group of composers who draw on the achievements of Karlheinz Stockhausen. In his instrumental music, written in the modernist fashion, he frequently employs uncommon methods of sound production. The artist also widens the scope of expressive possibilities of traditional instruments by the use of electronics, thus creating startling acoustic illusions. (EC)
