Zbigniew Penherski
(*1935)
Composer. Crucial to his compositions is the form, which usually assumes the shape of an arch or directional process, which may implement itself at various platforms related to either dynamics, pitch and sound, or harmony and tone. Another characteristic feature of Penherski’s music is the complex rhythmic structure achieved through the application of polyrhythm and different markings of tempos for respective instruments. Thanks to the utilization of relatively simple rhythmic operations and the introduction of textural counterpoint, certain segments of Penherski’s compositions resemble aleatoric processes. (KS)
