Zurine Gerenabarrena

(*1965)

Spanish composer. She composes music scored for a variety of instrumental and vocal line-ups, and often creates sound installations and acousmatic music through the employment of modern technology. She has been involved in interdisciplinary projects working with artists from the other disciplines of art, including theatre, dance, visual arts and literature. The composer makes full use of contemporary compositional techniques and the Western avant-garde language. Her music is characterised by the richness of sound effects and the search for unusual sound colours, both in acoustic instruments and those generated by electronic transformations. (EC)
