Łukasz Urbaniak

Łukasz Urbaniak

(*1980)

Composer, theoretician of music, pianist. Above all, Urbaniak composes sacral music for various performers, from chamber ensembles through a capella choir and large-scale vocal and instrumental lineups. He frequently draws from the choral tradition, turning to modal scales, major and minor tonalities, sometimes enriching them with oriental ornamentation. Owing to the utilitarian character of his works, Urbaniak often employs transparent, homorhytmic texture. Apart from religious works, he also composes didactic pieces and incidental music for theatre. (KS)
